Update: Hurricane Sandy relief

Recovery starts today
Dear Friend,

Hurricane Sandy may have moved on – but millions are without power, transportation systems are crippled, more flooding is expected and your help is urgently needed.

Yesterday, thousands of people like you answered our calls for help with an outpouring of support, and we’re so grateful. Thanks to you, we have been able to shelter almost 11,000 people in more than 250 Red Cross emergency shelters, serve more than 25,000 meals and snacks, and mobilize more than 1,700 trained disaster responders to support relief efforts in affected areas across 16 states.

Your generosity made a huge difference. Here are just a few images of how your support helped people survive the worst of the storm:

But we still need your help.
Please make a gift to American Red Cross Disaster Relief to support communities as they rebuild from devastation caused by disasters like Hurricane Sandy. Many families will return home in the next few days only to find their homes completely uninhabitable. They’ll need supplies to clean up their homes, a place to sleep at night while their roofs and windows are repaired, and food and water to keep them going until power is restored to their neighborhoods. They’ll need you.

Recovery takes time – and it takes commitment, not only from those affected by disaster, but also from those who are willing to give it their all and help. Make a gift to support American Red Cross Disaster Relief now and stand with families affected by disasters like Hurricane Sandy as they rebuild and recover, every step of the way.

Thank you so much for being a part of our Red Cross community – I know we can always count on you to help a neighbor in need.
